This painting was my first attempt to make a painting with swirl technique. I was watching other artists on YouTube for a while before I felt confident enough to try it.
For those of you who don’t know how it works l will try to explain it as simply as possible 🙂
You paint with fluid paint which is acrylic paint with additives in it. Then you make a “dirty cup” with the color combination you like.
Then you take your canvas and put white paint on it making a wet base and then you take your cup and swirl your paint on the canvas making small round moves and tilt it around the way you want it. Easy, right?
So in my first painting I’ve learned two lessons particularly for swirl technique:
  1. Don’t make your paint too runny.
  2. Don’t put too much paint.
These two lessons could work (or not work) in all fluid techniques, but especially for swirl technique.  I also used my blow torch to take bubbles off and make some cells. I think this painting turned out great! It reminds me of the “Eye of Horus” Egyptian symbol which means protection and royalty.
Thank you very much for your time.
Please comment if you have any questions or if you want me to write more about fluid acrylic paint and techniques.
